Date night steak dinner
Steak dinner with mashed potatoes, and asparagus
Ingredients
Steak
- 2 filet mignon
- 4 cloves minced garlic
- 8 sprigs thyme
- 1 stick butter
- kosher salt
- coarse ground pepper
Mashed potato
- 2 lb russet potato
- 1 stick butter
- chives
Asparagus
- asparagus
- olive oil
- kosher salt
- coarse ground pepper
Instructions
Steak
- Heavily salt and pepper steaks, and let sit for a minimum of 8 hrs before cooking
- Bring steak to room temperature before cooking (30-45 minutes)
- Heat pan to medium-high heat, and add butter, thyme, garlic, and steak
- Cook each side of the steak for 5-8 minutes depending on thickness of steak, and continually baste with butter throughout the cooking process
Mashed Potatoes
- Place cut following the center of the potatoes
- Boil potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes, rinse with cold water, and remove skin (should come right off)
- Grate potatoes, melt, butter and mix with a potatoes masher
- Cut chives, and mix into potatoes
Asparagus
- Coat asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper
- Cook in oven at 400 F until tender roughly 25-30 minutes
