Corned Beef and Cabbage
Irish dinner classic Corned Beef and Cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 corned beef brisket
- 5 bay leaves
- 6 medium carrots
- 5 medium potatoes
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1/4 cup garlic powder
- 1/4 cup celery seed
- 1/4 cup onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp pepper
- soda bread (optional) see notes
Instructions
- Place brisket in a stock pot and cover with water, bring to a boil add in all spices and herbs, and then simmer for two hours
- Cut cabbage and carrots, slice a ring in center or potatoes so skin can be easily removed after cooking, add to water, and boil for 30 minutes
- Remove vegetables, cut potatoes, and slice brisket, serve with soda bread and ladled sauce from pot
